I also believe it is wrong to do that. Don't lump all Christians in their twisted translation. I wrote their secretary in hopes of turning the organization from within. They have to know they're wrong. So I joined Patriot Guard. We're a bunch of bikers who protect the families of soldiers from those idiots at soldier's funerals.

This is a very good question, you are completely right, is because they are fanatics just as you said, and they take every thing that has to do with religion to the extremes. Jesus said love each other no matter what, so I don't know which God they worship maybe is Mars the roman god of war.

Let's play pretend:
Let's pretend I was molested by an individual of the same sex. Would I be right in saying all gay people are molesters?
Let's pretend I was beaten by an atheist for carrying a Bible. Would I be right in saying all atheists are violent madmen?
In a city of perhaps a million people who follow a religion, how man were at the parade, a handful?
Have not most organized religious leaders spoken against the group in Kansas who protest at soldier's funeral? Or have they not taken steps to protect the families of the soldiers from this abuse?
Does condemning all religion for the acts of a few make anyone right or are is it the same as they are. Perhaps it's time to stop being prejudice against everyone for the acts of a few.

In Italy during a gay pride parade they mocked religion and the Pope a lot. I have nothing against gays and I am in favor of humor, but I think that in the end everybody does the same. Even non-religious people can be idiotic.

Religion gives people a sense of self importance. We were made in the image of the lord. We don't vanish, but our souls exist forever, etc. The idea of god seeing you as better than other "groups" of people is a great example of this. God loves me more than he loves "fags." Religion has always been used for this purpose.
The problem with your question lies in the fact that we are trying to make sense of religion and can't because religion is irrational. It is based on having faith - a firm belief in something for which there is no proof. If someone firmly believes in something that does not require proof, there is no way to call their beliefs into question. This gray area can permit anything...hence the hatred of other groups of people.

Mainly because most of America is opposed to the idea of large groups of people running around with their peckers flopping around in the air, screaming about how gay they are. Speaking of, where are the straight pride parades? It's a morality issue dude. Most folks don't want their 7 year old daughters asking, "Daddy, why is that guy's whacker exposed?"

I don't think these groups understand God. I think that they think that judging people and condemning them is okay. We are not supposed to hate. The Bible says to hate is to murder.
Some people get so caught up in their own SELF-righteousness that they forget that its about the righteousness of God. I am frequently disappointed in these factions of certain religions.
God is a loving and forgiving God.
I just pray that these followers of whoever is teaching them this junk will actually pick up the Bible and read it for themselves. That is the only way that they will learn the truth.
They are misguided and misunderstand the Bible. That is why the are acting the way they are.

religious groups want to help save you from going to hell. In their hearts they really do mean well, but they're facing the issus they're trying to address in the wrong ways. They believe if they are aggressive then this will get people's attention, and it does. The only problem is that they bring to people's attention that they are being hypocrits against what they stand for and turn people away. just like with you.

Westboro Baptist aside..they are certified crazies.
Would you not protest (or at least get angry) if some group advocated changes in society that you believe are ultimately harmful? Of course you would.
Don't you think that gay pride parades are nothing more than a fringe minority seeking to intrude on the lives and morals of the rest of society?

i've heard about that, and it sickens me. how can anyone who professes a love of god do something like that to those families?
it doesn't matter if they agree with anyone else's lifestyle. those people are mourning. they don't need that crap shoved in their faces like that.
it makes me wonder if any of them ever actually read the bible, or do they just do whatever their leaders tell them to do.
