Preparing For Colonic Irrigation
The wonderful aspect about colonic irrigation is that it can be done EASILY without much preparation. It should be done in the morning on an empty stomach and preferably AFTER answering nature’s call (unless severely constipated).
While for usual practice, there are no special diet requirements, however, for a complete detoxification, we do recommend following a juice fast.

Things to avoid for a complete detoxification
On the colonic irrigation days avoid:

Flour and its products
Fizzy drinks and alcohol
Non-vegetarian food inc eggs
Vegetables like Potatoes, Lady’s finger, Jackfruit and Brinjal
Bananas and Pulses
Generally avoid smoking.
How to perform colonic irrigation
The best time for performing colonic irrigation is in the morning 1-2 hours before breakfast or in the evening, 2 hours before dinner.
Colonic irrigation is the gentle flushing of the colon using around 0,5 to 3 liters of filtered water on body temperature. It is important you find yourself in a relaxing environment it helps to put on some music, unplug the phone and doorbell; this is your time. You also need to allow enough time for the liquid to be discharged.

The first time
You can perform the procedure in different ways: Sitting on the toilet or lying on the ground, in bed or the bath tub. However, the first time we recommend you carry out the procedure on the toilet; you are used to this posture and it might therefore make you feel more relaxed. After that you can experiment in other positions.
It is possible that the first time you find it hard to let the water flow in. You may feel full after half a liter and sense the pressure of needing to release stool. This often indicates that there is still excrement in the colon that needs to be released. After this you repeat the procedure. If your posture is correct and you feel relaxed you can easily take in 1-3 liters of liquid.

The temperature of the water and the flow determine if the experience is pleasant. The normal temperature of the rectum and the body inside is 37 degrees Celsius. The temperature of the water needs to be a tiny bit warmer than that, to be neutral with body temperature. In case of illness, in which case one wishes to stimulate the immune system, one can increase the temperature to 39.5 degrees.

The ideal height to hang up or hold your colonic irrigation bag is 45 to 90 centimeters above the anus.
This height allows a gentle stream of the water. If the bag is hung up higher, the pressure rises which can cause cramping of the intestine.

To improve the flow, it is recommended you massage your belly and take slow and deep inhalations. Make soft rotating movements with your hands over the belly, clock-wise using a slight pressure.
Cramping is uncommon and normally indicates gas in the intestine. Therefore make sure the bag does not contain air. When you encounter problems, do not force anything, but try again at a later time.

You will only be doing an enema and as long as you are careful it will be fine. When you are inserting the speculum take great care. If you feel resistance then stop and start again. The speculum should go ion smoothly and with no effort. You will not get the same result from a home enema as you would from a colonic done by an experienced therapist.
