I have been on Effexor Xr 150 mg for 2 weeks. I am experiencing change in my vision (blurred). Also when I stand up from sitting down I get dizzy and everything goes black. I have fainted once. Is this normal?

You really had better call your doctor immediately. Effexor is some crazy stuff. I was on it for quite a while, and it worked pretty well for me, but I had to go off it for an unrelated reason, and boy did I have withdrawal! Effexor is one of the most dangerous depression / anxiety medicines and I think people should only go on it if other medicines fail. Again, CALL YOUR DOCTOR! S/he will put you on another medicine. You should NOT have such severe side effects for so long.

I would notify your doctor, but my mother is on Effexor and it has done this to her. It takes a while for the drug to "get into your system" and for the symptoms to ease. However, if you miss doses, it can mess you up and make you very ill.
I am on Lexapro and it does this to me, but not as bad as the Effexor does for Mom.
But by all means ... call your doctor!! Not everyone is the same, and your doc needs to know.

Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:
-feeling light-headed, fainting;
-increased blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision);
-seizure (convulsions); or
-fast or slow heartbeat.
