I am just starting the south beach diet. Today is day one and my body is definatly going through withdrawels for sugar. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me out. Also what can I drink during phase 1. I have only had water and skim milk because I'm not sure of what else is ok for phase 1.

I do Atkins which is very similar. I drank the little sugar free packets like Crystal light in water. I didn't stall me. Do not drink skim milk alot it has carbs and you need to limit your intake to 20g for the first 2 weeks with South Beach or Atkins.

You might feel like you have the flu or a real bad headache. It will pass and your not having a bad reaction to the low carb as so many people think. After years of eating all that sugar your body is like you said having withdrawals.

i've been on south beach phase 1 for a little over a week now and yeah the first 3 days were the worst! i got over it by drinking coffee in the morning and crystal light and water. for snacks i have some sugar free jello or some string cheese. its actually pretty amazing though cuz now i don't crave anything at all and i used to drink 5 mountain dews a day. so good luck with everything and hopefully you can stick it out!
