That depends upon the atheist. Again, what makes an atheist an atheist is a lack of a belief in deities. That's the only thing atheists necessarily have in common.

As a Humanist, I believe in each person's right to seek happiness in whatever ways appeal to them, so long as they do not abridge the rights of others, which is why we have laws. I believe in religious freedom and freedom of expression. All credible evidence leads me to believe that this is the one and only life we are certain to have, so it behooves us to make the best use of the time we have. I believe in living a moral and useful life. I believe in living a life that would make my proud and doing all I can to leave behind a better world for my grandchildren than I found it.

I really can not speak for atheists, but, as an agnostic, I can believe in nothing of a deistic nature; I am unable to believe -- in fact, disbelief defines me as an agnostic. Having said the preceding, then, I do believe in living a moral life, one which provides me with a sense of satisfaction and happiness...

atheists are defined by what they do NOT belief in: a personified deity.
other than that, an atheist can have any other set of beliefs that don't completely contradict. for example, i am an atheist pagan. the god/desses described in paganism are symbolic, in my understanding, and none actually exist, hence the 'atheist' part. now the pagan part is another story!....

You should live your life and try to make the world a better place for your being in it, whether or not you believe in God. If there is no God, you have lost nothing and will be remembered fondly by those you left behind. If there is a benevolent God, he will judge you on your merits and not just on whether or not you believed in him.
