If your parents have insurnace, its generally much cheaper to be added to their policy and you pay them the difference. That way you get in on the multi-car, multi-driver discount.

My son is 17 and when I added him to my policy, it went up by more than $500 dollars for every six months of coverage. Thats actually pretty cheap and we get good coverage through GEICO. (No, I did not get paid by the GECKO for saying this ☺)

I have a Sport Utility Vehicle, so I 'm guessing a 92 Pontiac will probably be a little more.

Good Luck and please Drive Safely!

Start calling independent agents. They will be able to rate your policy for you. They will probably rate you with Progressive but at 17 they shouldn't need your ss# since they only pull credit once you are 18. Progressive usually still doesn't need your ss# when you are over 18 because most times they can still pull your credit. I only ask for a ss# when there is a "no hit".

full coverage will cost you dearly because of your age. Liability will be about 1/4 the price of full covereage.

For cheaper insurance see how much it would cost to be added to your parents policy!
