My humble opinion and that of popes and other coffee experts is that Cafe Alto Grande from Puerto Rico is one of the best coffees in the world. A little pricey but in my opinion one of the best.

Years ago, before the American upscale coffee movement, I visited Rhode Island several times and there was a local brand of coffee (ordinary, sold tinned in supermarkets and at both diners and better restaurants - it seemed to have the local RI market sewn up though you could not find it anywhere in Boston 40 miles away) that (to my taste) was delicious and memorable. The can had a little bird on the label.
It seems to be still in business as I search engined for my reply to your question and found it: the brand is Autocrat. But from its website most of the Autocrat brand business seems to be coffee syrups and extracts today; the company has developed another line (Newport Coffees) to compete with Starbucks and Peets and the other upscale brands. I don't know if this means the regular Autocrat today is as good as I remember it or if it has deteriorated as have most of the mass market American brands.

well ther was this place called Hochlanders in Stuttgart Germany that I liked, but to purchase coffee, I would go with Blue Mountain Coffee from Jamaica, the most expensive on the planet, and the best taste with a great aroma

I am particular to a blend that a company out here in Colorado (Pikes Perk) roasts, called Ethiopian. Theirs is just so naturally sweet, you don't need sugar. I did learn that its not only about how it is roasted, but also how it is ground and the water you use. you should use a grind that fits your coffee machine (which the shop can help you with), you should use cold, distilled water and don't keep your beans in the freezer. It dries out all the natural oils, which is where a lot of flavor comes from.

I have not been in a Starbucks for sometime but I do buy their ground coffee to brew at home - I like the French roast.

French Vanilla...No STARBUCKS! Do not support a company that when asked to send some coffee to our troops said" NO we do not support the war or OUR TROOPS!" Fine don't support the war but everyone should support our troops!

If you mean to make at home, I think it makes more of a difference if you grind your own beans. Even store brands taste way better if the beans are freshly ground.
