i know this might sound a bit petty,but we just cant buy a decent can opener that can open all cans. weve actually started buying the ring pull type cans where poss,just in case they wont open...so...can anyone recommend the BEST can opener on the market

I like the manual can openers. Mine's an OXO Good Grips swing arm model.

I have a good Starfrit can opener, it's a manual one, but it actually takes the whole lid off at the rim and folds over the lip of the can as it opens the can. Very sanitary as nothing is going to drop in your stuff as you open the can.

The manual can opener from Pampered Chef. It will wear out after several years of use but it is an excellent can opener. The battery operated hand held ones suck.

One Touch by DAKA. About $20 at Walmart. Lay it on top of any size can and push the button. I think it's the best invention since the can.

I had the same problem as you - the only one I've found works for every can is from Ikea! Cheap as you like too - fantastic!
