No it is not ethical.
Ethics is the study of values and customs of a person or group and covers the analysis and employment of concepts such as right and wrong, good and evil, and responsibility. It is divided into three primary areas: meta-ethics (the study of the concept of ethics), normative ethics (the study of how to determine ethical values), and applied ethics (the study of the use of ethical values

If you don't need it, then don't apply. All of those programs have finite budgets so any money you get will then not be available for someone that may need it more.
I say may because there are no doubt lots of people in similar situations as yourself who won't even question if its ethical or moral.
Course I would set pride aside if I had children to feed. Say you qualified but didn't really need it but had a child to care for, that extra will make it easier for you to attend and cover you for any unexpected hardship which will ultimately make for a better life for your child (both right now with the extra money and in the future when you've completed your degree).

Yes, as a nation we decide what we deem to be ethical based on our laws. If a person legaly qualifies for a government program, then there would be nothing unethical about them collecting that assistance, because our laws give them a leagal right. It wouldn't be unethical unless they deceeved the government in order to qualify for these programs. Because, if they actualy qualify for WIC or welfare they probably not rolling in money anyway.

That just shows how screwed up the system is in this country. It is undoubtedly not right!!! There are several families out there that cannot afford to buy the necessities like food, clothes, and housing but yet you have people who dwell in the realm of greed and abuse the system. It's not fair. Public assistance should be given to people who actually need it. I thought that that was the whole point of having public assistance anyway. For the people who abuse the system in that way, I just wish that they would reconsider their actions, come clean, and stop trying to take the easy way out. This is truly a sad occurrence.

I think it's wrong. I wish that there was a way to report the folks that do take advantage. I know someone who is doing just that. While my husband and our two kids struggle to make ends meet...they reap the benefits and have a higher income than we do. We struggle for grocery money...they are buying a house. Ouch! It makes me mad!

That seems to vary with individuals & cultures. In the late 1800's & early 1900's, for example, the Irish had no qualms about taking hand-outs. For others it's strictly taboo. I personally disfavor it, it's abuse of the system

I personally couldn't take something when I didn't need it. Not knowing how many people out there do need it...and might not get it.

Your argument makes no sense. If you qualify, then you need it.
