science that is based on a lot of assumptions is not science. The facts are that ALL creation testifies of His glory - and that is the reality of it!

How come you don't have to really say why? The onus is always on us. Prove that God doesn't exist. Has science ever created life? Have they ever taken chemicals on a rock and seen and seen it bubble into a bacteria, amoeba, or anything remotely life like? In the history of mankind has a human ever given birth to anything other than a human, a monkey anything other than a monkey, a horse anything other than a horse, or a fly anything other than a fly? People love science because it has given them microwaves, the internet, and ipods, so science could never be wrong. Lovers of science won't believe it till they see it but no one has ever seen what science proposes in the area of creation. Science always always reaches out beyond it's grasp but doesn't always find what it thought it would. Along with an increase in education you will always find an increase in pride. Always. Why else pay all that money and do all those classes if you can't be proud of it. Pride is alway accompanied by arrogance and the difficulty to admit you don't have the answers. Science always tries to have the answers but can't admit they don't have the answers because too many big heads and degrees. Ask them how to cure cancer and they will say, "By the year _____ we will have the cure." Their arrogance says they know they will find it. It is only a matter of science. Do they have a cure, no. I will believe it when they actually have it. Did chemicals on a rock create life. I will believe it when they do it.

The short answer is this: If you limit your concept of TRUTH to empirical data, you would've been counted among those that believed that the earth was flat before enough evidence was available to warrant that belief. In other words, it would be better for you to be agnostic (and be on the path to truth) than atheist.
Atheists tend to see their viewpoint as the only logical choice because they have fallen victim to constraints of science which only deals with the physical world and that which can be proved by available technology through the use of the scientific method.
Unfortunately, because science is limited in this way, it is unable to analyze metaphysical phenomena which may include the existence of God, the human soul and spirit, faith and other such concepts exclusive to religions and belief systems.
The very fact that science is unable to measure these things, may be reason enough to exclude science as a means by which anyone should rule out any religion or belief system. In short, atheists who use science as a defense for their lack of religion, or as a means to attack religion, do not understand the limited nature in which science can be applied.
Ideas about belief systems are studied under the heading of philosophy, a general rule of which is that if it cannot be logically ruled out, it should be considered a viable possibility. Anyone who rules out viable possibilities due to a lack of evidence is a close-minded fool.
Truth is true without qualification. Before there was enough proof, people of this world used to think that the sun revolved around the earth. Despite this common belief, the truth was that the earth revolved around the sun and always had.

If I said I don't believe you exist would that change reality?
Of course not.
Science does not get in the way. Neither does reality nor facts.
Unbelief is the only thing that gets in the way.
Can you name a creation that does not have a creator?
Can you name a design that was designed by a designer?
It would take more faith to believe in evolution than God.

I believe there are many, but only because I had a personal experience that was not better explained in another way. That's why I'm no longer an atheist.
Unfortunately, it was a personal experience, so it doesn't count for anyone else's beliefs but mine.
I find science, reality and facts only hamper those who claim their gods work outside them.

I don't believe in the God thing. I was raised Catholic and raised both of my sons as Catholics. About 10 years ago, the whole idea of believing in a floating entity, that created all and has the power to do all, just seemed so silly. I have talked with highly educated people who will tell you they don't believe in ghosts, but they do believe in God...What's the difference. I have also witnessed, folks who are dying and never set foot in a church, suddenly make this last ditch effort for a miracle and start to "believe". I don't know how any rational, educated, free thinking human being, can believe in the God "theory".

What science and facts are there that make you believe there is no God. It has long been my philosophy the religion explains what God does and why he does them. Science tells us how he does it.
If you look closer at scientific facts and you look closer at Biblical teachings, you see that there is not a great disparity between the two. One does not have to preclude the other.

I'm pretty sure none of us will ever figure out whether or not there is a God of any kind, nor will we ever really know how life on earth began. I'm not sure it's even worthwhile to speculate. Instead of debating that which we cannot answer, perhaps it would be best if we all set aside religious and theoretical differences and agreed to just enjoy life.

I do believe because "god" is the answer to the question "Why is there something rather than nothing."
"God" is also the conclusion of the argument from contingency.

I am atheist because I have decided to base my beliefs on logical and rational rather than supernatural things. Also because the probability of a god is so very, very, very small and would have (and has) no valuable purpose even if it did exist.
