Let me give you advice, don't live in Manhattan. Personally, I'm a Queens girl, so I'm biased to Queens, but it's MUCH cheaper and you can get a LOT more space. When I lived on the Upper Westside of Manhattan, I paid $850/month for to share a 2 bedroom. My room was no more than 6x8, literally. In Queens, my last apartment in Astoria, my room was about 12x12 and I paid $700/month to share a 2 bdrm with gorgeous hardwood floors, big kitchen and big bathroom. Of course, you're going to have to do quite a bit of shopping -- it's hard to find your ideal apartment. Check craigslist.org to look up some options/prices/locations.

700 sq ft is considered medium in Manhattan and would cost at least 2000 a month...depending on the neighborhood.

1,200 might get you a 325 sq ft studio in sketcky area

For a place that size would probably be about 1500 a month..unless you want to share a nasty bathroom with all the other apartments on your floor, or have a bathtub in your kitchen....also, not in the best neighborhoods.

I LIVE IN OKLAHOMA BUT HAD A FREIND WHO LIVED IN NY FOR A FEW YEARS AND HE ALWAYS TLKED AB9UT HOW MUCH MORE THINGS COST THERE, LIKE 3 TIMES THE PRICE HERE, SO I'M FIGURING A 700 SQUARE FOOT APARTMENT WOULD RUN YOU ABOUT $1,200. A MONTH

Not enough info to really answer.

What part of NYC?

What type of amenities you need in your building?

Etc.

On Manhattan, you are probably looking at $1500 to $2000/month.
