He meant there is a blessing for those who mourn. He will be with them to comfort them and a special blessing will be on them. Some of the darkest times of my life when I was mourning is when I felt the presence of God the most.

It means blessed are those who mourn. We should mourn for three things, our current state of life, those who do not know God, and for our sins. We mourn because we once knew what it was like to know God in the Garden of Eden and Human kind has fallen. We mourn for those who do not know God or do not have a relationship with God because he is an incredible God and those people are truly at a loss, for they will not see heaven. We mourn for our sins and the sins of others. Because we mourn for sins, by mourning we wish to sin no more, creating more mourning because we are created to sin. However with all of the mourning that we do we should seek Christ through, because he is going to be there to comfort us when we mourn. Mourning is not just something you should do if someone dies, or if you are having troubles in life, we should mourn always, but know that God is comforting us as we are mourning.

This beatitude means...
-to mourn for a loved on who has died--blessing to feel the emptiness of loss when someone dies
-to ache for all that is not right with the world
-they are aware of all the good and bad around them
-they feel the full range of emotions
-they see and believe in the potential for good
-they are aware of all of the possibilities of life
I hope this answers your question. God Bless :)

What everyone said above me...
He gives peace and comfort to those who mourn, because He saves many everyday, and they receive the comfort of Jesus Christ--not only NOW but of course when we receive the kingdom of Heaven with Him, we will be greatly comforted- and just to know we are saved from hell and sin, is a GREAT comfort.
So those who mourn now....will someday be comforted in knowing Jesus Christ and His great love. Even we who are saved, when we mourn, are comforted already knowing we have Christ in our lives.

Because in our mourning we would receive the comfort of his Holy Spirit. In addition, we have the promise that he made at John 5:28,29 of a resurrection.

likely those who have troubles because of Christ. so if you're persecuted, count yourself lucky. you're probably on the right track...
or it could mean some mourners will get a Divine intervention. That seems pretty comfortable to me...
