First, I am 25 years old and a very athletic guy. I work out about 5 days a week & am very active...never had any medical conditions or anything like that.

For about the past couple months I have been experiencing symptoms of post nasal drip. Trust me, it's horrible! I have been taking zyrtec and it seems to help somewhat. Any other suggestions on what to take for that?

For the past couple weeks, I have been experiencing shortness of breath. It hurts for me to take a deep breath and is really uncomfortable and I am feeling light headed at times. Right now the pollen in the air is really bad. Is this a result of the pollen in the air, post nasal drip, or something else?? I am not depressed, so I don't know if it would be anxiety. Also, I have no other symptoms of allergies(runny nose, itchy throat/eyes, etc...). Any suggestions on what's going on or any medicine to help would be greatly appreciated!!

Also...I have never had asthma, so I dont know if someone can just develop it later in life??

It sounds a lot like allergies, but you should still see your doctor to be sure.

The shortness of breath could be an upper respiratory infection or bronchitis, and it would be better to catch that sooner rather than later. Bronchitis makes your chest hurt when you take a deep breath.

There is also the chance that you might have a 'touch' of asthma (as my doctor tells me) and it's best to have an inhaler or other meds on hand if you do, especially since you work out so much.

Don't want to make you more worried - probably nothing serious, but if it IS an infectection you want to start treating it as soon as possible.

I didn't develope asthma till I was 25. I had allergies previously which turned into asthma...I suffer post nasal drip constantly right now I have a horrible cough, lots of chest congestion and a sore scratchy throat...what you could also be experiancing is a sinus infection or sinusitis..both will cause your symtoms...see if maybe you can get an inhaler too, that may help some.

If you think you have allergies then get tested for them so you can consider allergy shots or better medication. The other symptoms also need to be checked out so see your doc now and get all of these things checked out.

You need to call your doc or go to the emergency room; shortness of breath is never good, and your dizziness may be a result of poor ventilation in your lungs due to inflammation.
