I go up there to Mail a letter and ask her if its enough postage she grabs the letter and says yes and says next person. I wanted to ask her when the forever stamps were coming out and she said the next time the rates are raised. But she was a total ****** about it. The post office was in Annapolis , MD she was the fat short black lady.

I actually had a similar experience at my local post office a couple months ago. I went in to purchase a stamp because I didn't have a book of stamps, nor did I need a book of stamps at the time - I just needed one stamp to send out a letter. I was treated very rudely by the postal employee. Afterwards I thought she was rude because maybe it was inappropriate for me to go in and purchase just one stamp (instead of a book), so I emailed the United States Postal Service to ask them if it was inappropriate of me to purchase just one stamp and explained how rudely I had been treated when I did so. To my surprise, I received a response from USPS within two days, apologizing for what had happened and they wanted me to give them the details (which post office it happened at, the date and time of my visit, etc.) so they could look into it. Although I decided not to launch a formal complaint at the time (I thought I'd give the worker the benefit of the doubt that one time), it was nice to know that the USPS seemed very concerned about it.

If you feel the way you were treated warrants a formal complaint against the worker who was so rude to you, I recommend emailing USPS and giving them the details so they can look into it and possibly discipline the worker. The link below gets you to the page to email USPS.

I understand that everyone has bad days occasionally but anyone working in customer service who cannot treat their customers with respect at all times should really not be working in customer service. It is not only disrespectful to the customers but also to the company's reputation.

You never know what was going on with other people.

She may have had a fight with her husband or kids, or she may have a jerk for a boss.

Any of those things can add up to a cranky employee. However, when you work with the public, you must be at the very least cordial and courteous.

A bad day is no excuse for rude behavior. Stand up for yourself - ask to see a supervisor.

I tell the employees I supervise to treat every member of the public coming in as they would want their parents or grandparents treated. We get yelled at a lot, but we must remember that it isn't personal - the person coming in is just upset with the circumstances.

I have a problem with a couple of employees in my post office also, I usually go to another farther away where they seem alittle nicer.

I just stand my ground and make sure they answer my questions. The meaner they get the longer I take.

I bet many people never finish what they expected to do at the post office due to unruley employees. and that sucks

She is rude, but she probably won't change.

Ever worked at a post office? Positively DISMAL!

When asked what you want to do with your life, not many people would say, "Gee I want to work in the post offfice, dealing with people all day in an unattractive environment, putting up with their crap". She obviously needed the job. So I would cut her a little slack.

Next time, wish her a nice day.

when i run into people in the service industry that are rude, i count to ten and then try to think...maybe they are having a bad day. maybe some rude customer earlier yelled at them or said mean things or maybe they are having personal issues (maybe she has a son who is constantly getting into trouble and treats her badly, who knows) i try to give them the benefit of my empathy and then i guarantee if you "kill them with kindness" it always turns it around. say something like "it seems like you are having a bad day, i hope tomorrow is better. but you know no matter what is happening with you today, i don't appreciate the way you are acting toward me. but since it seems that you are having a moment i will let it slide" and this way you don't feel walked on and you the point across.... and trust me i works better than "who crapped in your cheerios this morning?" (which i have used on occasion.

I'll echo the response that it's a boring, monotonous job, and add the fact that being nice and polite won't get her paid any more than she's already making.

Really? Did you leave and cry? Call her boss and complain?
Did you get rude back? Did you ask her why she was being so crabby to you?

If not, you are a push-over. You were confronted with a situation, which you did nothing about.

My suggestion: Get a spine and get over it. Who knows what she was mad about. Who cares?

Bring her a nice yellow rose, and she'll give better service next time. Surprise surprise.

She yelled at you because of the fact she is a self-typical loopy *** *****. that easy. do no longer attempt to determine people like that out. do no longer enable them to stress you out. You dealt with it wonderful because of the fact saying something could have been like speaking to a wall. additionally on account that she is obviously loopy, it incredibly is ultimate to leave her on my own, because of the fact who is familiar with what her reaction to something you pronounced could have been.
