You probably are in the 28% tax rate. It does depend however on the number of dependants you claim.

What you bring home is not the issue. What is your gross? What deductions do you have pretax (401k, pretax premiums on medical/dental/disability)? What other income do you have? Do you have any dependents? Are you a dependent? Are you an employee (do you have social security, sometimes labeled OASDI or FICA, deducted) or are you an "independent contractor"? All of those hings will affect your tax liability and therefore how much tax you need to have taken out of your check (or paid quarterly).

If you are a wage earner, taxes have already been withheld from your wages. You normally do not need to make any additional payments to the IRS.
