It is a small part time job that she only works 4 hours a week at, honestly I forgot all about it and she never gave me the W-2. What steps should I take in resolving this problem?

File an amended return on Form 1040X and pay any additional tax due by April 17, 2007.

Dances with Aardvarks is right. you should report a 1040X to amend this 300 and sixty 5 days's return. you won't be in a position to easily upload this 300 and sixty 5 days's W2 on next 300 and sixty 5 days's taxes. between the taxes, pastime, and effects, the quantity you will owe in case you wait until next 300 and sixty 5 days is going to be on the edge of the finished income on that particular W2.

You need to file an amended return, form 1040X, showing ALL of your joint income. Otherwise at some point in the future, you'll hear from the IRS telling you that you omitted that W-2 and telling you that you owe additional taxes (unless she had enough taken out on that W-2 to cover that) - by then you'll owe additional money for interest and possible penalties.

i have done taxes for years. Mine , and some how the neighbors and some friends found out. I guess I'm good because I do them out of my home now for 20.00 and I have had the same people for 10 yrs.
You can do 3 of three things;
don't do anything would be MY 1st choice they(IRS) already know and if it's that trivial don't worry about it plus you don't get audited for that junk anyway
Second choice is you can go ahead and go to your local IRS and get a form like an add on sheet....it's not worth the trouble
Third choice: if you are that worried you can send it with next yrs. taxes!
hope this eases your mind a little!

you should be able to file an ammended form. however, you won't be able to do that online, you have to print out a special form and fill that out with the missing information and mail it in.
