Personality wise, I think he is a nice guy. But, since he quit his job in December and has not been looking for work elsewhere, my sister is starting to dislike him and afraid they are growing apart. Plus, she is more focused on her career now and thinks that he is too dependent on her. What advice should I give her? And it's not like they're teenagers, either. She's 26 and he's like, 30. They were planning to get married even.

actually, i am in the same situation. i decided to end things with my bf of 4 yrs. he's done that to me a few times. the more you let someone do that to you, they get to comfortable and forget what their responsibility is. bc of this our relationship was a vicious cycle of ups and downs. i decided to end the relationship even though i still love him. i told him i wanted to end it now and be friends, or stay together and ending up hating him with a passion. so we are friends. if we were meant to be than in the future our paths will cross. Your sister needs to let him go. A trial separation is good. whatever it takes to get him to quit this. tell your sis good luck.

Honestly, I would start falling out of love in that situation too. There is nothing attractive about a man without a job. He's not exactly hanging a "keeper!" sign around his neck by not making an effort.
A trial separation could draw out a situation that was inevitably going to end. Two years is a while, but it sounds like she should move on.
If they do want to separate for a while, they should date other people...just to see what else is out there.

Try an ultimatum..If they live together, this might work..I used to say something like if you don't get a job by the end of the week, pack your bags..If he's motivated, he'll get one mid-week.....Good luck..She may be falling out of love with him because she probably feels she got herself a loser because he doesn't have a job..If she really loves him, just accept him and try pushing a little harder..

Tell her he's an idiot and that she needs to motivate him to do better or find a guy that is already motivated to do something with himself.

No woman should be obligated to support her man.

well she can't support him...tell him to get a job or he can lose the love of his life...the girl never supports the guy
