I do have to say that some "evil" behaviour such as a pedophile, serial killer and such, are beyond being socially unacceptable.

It's a choice. There are no outside forces. Claiming there are outside forces involved is just a way of passing the buck and not taking responsibility for ourselves. We need to put the blame firmly where it BELONGS if we want to make positive changes.

First you must separate Evil from wrong doings (can't word that better right now) Wrong doings are not that Evil.
But true Evil is hiding behind our leaders the ones who make us kill each other. or Kill us our plant etc. true Evil is making us sick from the food we by the air we breath the water we drink, then they charge us money to cure us. True Evil isn't just some person who made bad decisions or acting out. True evil is misleading finger pointers and causing mayhem

But see this visual, for those who point the finger, there are three pointing back at you.

According to St. Augustine evil is a force within oneself that is expressed when one chooses to act in a manner not acceptable to the will of God.
According to the Manacheans, Evil is the duality of God which is present in a physical way, altering our state of mind in such a way we prefer to follow evil versus good.
According to Plato, Evil is all things sensorial, obtained by the senses because these are flawed, he uses the mirage as an example.
According to Christ, evil has lost his battle over us, because Christ has conquered him who is evil, so that we might live.
I vote for the later. God bless you always.

It's a combination of both.
Demons can only suggest or bring something to your attention.... it's up to you to act on it. If the decision is made to act on it, demons will feed on that and ensure that it's very easy to compound the issue.

On the other hand, mental stability and / or chemical imbalance of an individual cannot, in my opinion, be used in this analogy. Mentally unstable persons may be unaware of their actions or the consequenses.

"Evil" is a relative term. Heat is "good" for hot dogs but "evil" for ice cream. In other words, "evil" exists only in combination. There is no abstract "evil" as postulated by Christianity etc.

I don't think "evil" exists. there is only socially acceptable and unsocialy acceptable acts. The Aztecs (to my knowledge would make human sacrifices some scientists think and back then it was an HONOR to be a sacrifice for the gods. so it depends culturally.)

"Outside forces...?" Like .gov? Nah, doing "evil" is H. sapiens sapiens' decisions all the way, but often justified as doing work for humanity's good (ethnic cleansing,Nazi's "Gott mitt uns" and similar warped views.) And there are no truly "outsides forces", as in Ahriman, Lucifer, etc.

Both. We are all born with a sin nature which gives us the propensity to act in a sinful (eveil0 way. But we are also tempted to do evil by Satan and his demons.

The Bible say whatever you submit your members to, to that you become a slave. So unless you are born again you are Satan's slave, but once you are born again you can still chose to submit your members to sin and then you must ask Jesus to set you free from that sin.

"evil" sometimes depends on which side you're on.
many people choose actions which they think are good/commendable/honourable but if you're on the receiving end, it's perceived as evil.
many wars are started over this theory
