What I mean by this is, I don't want to hear the story told to me, again, in a laymens terms, but rather I want to hear the underlining meaning of the parable.

Or should I say, what do YOU believe Jesus was trying to teach when he told this story?

((Note:: There are no wrong answers. I just want to hear the differences in opinions))

Hi, I will gladly explain this parable to you.

The master that went away on a journey represents Jesus that is returning to heaven after his resurrection.

The talents he gave to his servants are gifts/abilities that Jesus gives Christians. They represent what we can do for Him on earth right now.

Those who put their gifts/abilities to the service of God will receive rewards.

One servant received more than another. That means that there will be different degrees of rewards in heaven.

One servant did nothing with his talent. This represents Christians without deeds. It is a Christian that does not take God seriously and thinks he can live the way he wants. The Bible tells us that there is no real faith if there is no deeds. That type of "Christian" will not see heaven.

"As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead."
James 2:26

Here's a story. I don't think its about Jesus but I thought it was interesting.

A little boy in Africa wanted to give his teacher a gift but he didn't have any money. So, he walked for three days to the ocean and gathered up some sand in a jar. Then he walked three days back to his village. He presented the jar to his teacher and she was moved by it. She said "this is such a thoughtful gift. You must have walked a long way." The boy smiled and said "But teacher, the journey is part of the gift."

There are people who are using and abusing other people because they are able to. When he returns and they haven't repented/ stopped that crap but are still doing it when he returns God will have their butts hanging off the end of his foot. This especially means people who have an affect on lots of people. Government/politicians , attorneys, judges, doctors. Big businesses /conglomerates you get the picture.

Again, in short, God has given each of us a chance to use this life for Him. What we choose to do with it is up to us and what we decide will determine our state of being for all eternity. When He comes back, we will either be ready and go to be with Him in heaven (with or without rewards) or be cast into hell (when we die).
