a bob that is much shorter at the back and pointing down at the sides, makes a face look longer, no fringe

Either you have oval or round face. Here are the characteristics:
Oval faces are considered to be the ideal shape by hairdressers. People with an oval face shape can wear most hair cut styles and lengths with it still looking "right". The oval face is mathematically 1.5 times as long as its width, with the forehead slightly wider than the jaw.

Round faces are characterized by a round chin. Because they lack the length of the oval face, the hair should be cut to create the illusion of length in the face. This is achieved by creating height on top of the head, and minimizing hair width by keeping it flat at the sides and around the ears.

These 3 websites have plenty of styles to choose from.

This last one you can upload your photo and see yourself in different styles or colors. Then you will be able to decide which looks better on you. Good luck!

well an oval shaped face can carry off pretty much any style but bobs are very in this season especially the "pob" as modelled by victoria beckham

or go for a shoulder length layered style with a few highlights

I had the same problem, Perhaps you should try a style like my aviator!! A fringe deffinately, not a bob; you need layers.

I printed off my aviator pic to show my hairdresser!!
