I'm sure that copious amounts of it can have ill effects just like anything else, but it doesn't have any calories, so at least you won't get fat in the process.

I am totally addicted to diet coke and have been since high school. I am 34 years old.
When I was pregnant twice I had to have 2 diet cokes a day. I quit drinking/smoking but could not stop the diet coke. I think it is BAD and can be extrememly addicting. If you do not have to have it then don't start now. Plus the chemicals and aspartame are not good. (now if I could just give it up-i drink about 6 a day). Also, you should not drink diet coke for sodium. 40mg is not much anyway. You probably get plenty of sodium from your food. If you eat anything processed (even a slice of cheese) has sodium and more than diet cokes. So I would say do not drink them.

Diet coke is bad for you because the subsitute sweetener they use instead of real sugar has a lot of bad chemicals in it in order to have no calories. I wouldn't drink it if I was on a diet.

It's okay. Zero calories means no possibility of weight gain, and no problem with blood sugar rush (like diabetes problems).

The caffeine could be a problem if you already have anxiety or high resting heart rate.

For a while there was a concern with the safety of artificial sweeteners, but the one's used now have been proven safe over 20 years.

The only problem is that it is still acidic, so can cause heartburn, ulcers, and can erode teeth. But that is with drinking lots of it.

Don't drink any soda, diet or not. They have a lot of artifical ingredents. If you are on a diet and salt. Just drink juice or water with a cracker. Go natural, diet and light are a waste of your money and health.

Yes. Coke or any soda is especially bad for women to drink because it aids in the breakdown of our bones as we get older. You are better off not drinking any soda at all and just drinking water or juices, that sort of thing. It's mainly the fake sure, carbonation, corn syrup, and caramel coloring that are bad for you in any type of soda.

i loooooove diet coke. everyone says you shouldn't drink so much soda, so about a month ago i quit drinking it. i drank water & green tea instead. i really couldn't tell a difference in how i felt. but i've read that too much caffeine & artificial sweeteners can be bad for you, and drinking a lot of soda can affect your bone health.

Drinking diet anything has been proven to increase your appetite. Stay away from anything that has added chemicals in it. There are ways to get sodium other than drinking artificially sweetened drinks. They are hazardous to your health.

Watch how much you drink... I had a friend who had to go to the bathroom about 10000 times a day and thought something was wrong with his bladder. ends up the doctor tells him to quit drinking so much diet coke because it does something to your bladder...

you should buy diet and caffeine free cola b/c if you are on a diet, caffiene can cause a hormonal imbalance which causes wieght gain.

you should also know that anything diet has aspertame which is pure chemicals and no one knows the long-term side effects of it - but they are presumed to be not good.

just drink water - or decaffinated tea and add Splenda or Stevia which are natural no-calorie sweetners.
