I live in the U.S. and I'm in love with someone who lives in Germany. We met here in the U.S. dated for just a couple months while he was here and then he left. then I went to Germany for Christmas to visit him. We decided not to keep up the relationship after I left Germany for obvious reasons. We did email frequently, but during the last month it got kind of slow which kind of saddened me. Now he wrote me and told me that he might get back together with his ex-girlfriend.
Half of me isn't upset because I know we can't be together, but... the other half of me realizes how desperately in love I am with him more than I ever have been with in my life. I would willingly pack up and move to Germany if it meant I could spend the rest of my life with him.
There's nothing that can be done... but at least I feel better now that I have to somebody how much I really love this man. Thank you all you Yahoo Answers addicts.

I'm sorry to hear that Nikki (hey that's my name too !! lol) But sometimes things happen for a reason, well pretty much all things that happen, happen for a reason. Perhaps there is someone better for you that you just haven't met yet. Or maybe this thing won't work out with his ex-girl and he will realize that he is madly in love with you and can't live without you. Who knows, but either way don't be down about it and keep living your life. If it is meant for you guys to be together then it WILL happen !! If not then in time you will have probably moved on to that someone who is going to be there for you completely in the same space that you are - not in Germany. Keep smiling - and have a great day !!

I don't necessarily think that nothing can be done. Maybe write him an email or letter as closure & wishhim luck with everything, then let it go and cut of communication for awhile. It may help.
But glad you feel better being able to share with everyone. I know relationships are so SO difficult. But hang in there. And Mr. Right will come along, living in the same country and everything =]

When you went to visit this guy in Germany and he agreed to break up the relationship (which was only a few months old), he was done with it. Carrying a torch for a guy who doesn't love you in return is a waste of your time. It sounds good, and it makes you feel all gooey inside, but it's a waste of time. Get on with your life, girlfriend.

It's really easy to get attached to people you meet online...I'm not sure why though. but it's way easier than someone you meet at a bar or party and talk with for a while....anyway
why not try one of those dating sites to meet new people?
Try to stick with a guy in the states so the distance wont be such an issue.
This guy wasn't all you thought he was to be if he dumped you while you were there- awkward! then is getting back with his ex. is kinda rude. He obviously had feelings for her while with you.

Do you love him because you can't have him? Because why didn't you offer to move to Germany before you found out about his reconiliation with the ex? If you love him that much, GO GET HIM. Seriously, hope on a plane and go claim him. Good luck.

It's always ok to vent. You want someone that you can't have. I have been there. I wouldn't pack up and move, that's too extreme. He has obviously move on and you should do the same. Its hard realizing that something so good can end. That's life!!! Best of luck finding someone else...

If you are serious on the idea of being willing to sacrafice your life here, and move to Germany to be with him. Than you should tell him this. Maybe it will work out? With however it turns out. Good luck!

There, there, this too shall pass.....or will it?.......you didn't say how old you are so it is tough to address, if you are old enough then hop on the plane and see what happens...happy endings don't only happen in the movies!!!

Girl, you've got to be strong, you both gave it a try and it didn't work, you can feel good with yourself knowing that you did everything in your power to make the relationship work, if it didn't go any further I'm sure that he was not the "one" for you, it will hurt at first but then you will get over him, be strong and good luck!
