basketcase88: it's not giving "employment" preference from one ethnicity over another. Latin Weddings are not easy to plan. You must know the culture, customs and traditions involved in Latin Weddings. It's better to have someone from the same background than "taught" western ideas of our culture.
Alma: I know how necessary it is for your Latin Wedding to go well. Including the language so the planner can communicate to everyone either in English or Spanish. All my "people" are bi-lingual (my Realtor, banker, my staff, even planners, etc).
Try calling this place and ask them if they have a planner that "specializes" in Latin Weddings and is bi-lingual:
Celebrate! Events and Weddings
(214) 336-7993
Then hit the yellow pages and call all the event/wedding planners in your area asking the same "planner specializing in Latin weddings and preferred bi-lingual."
Also, visit wedding dress stores....many planner leave their cards there for anyone to pick up. Call #'s and ask questions until you find that perfect planner!

Don't know any b/c I live in SA but just wanted to say Good luck and Congrats....
And it is very wise of you to want a "latina" wedding planned rather than just picking and choose.
Are there any Wedding Expos going on in the few months? They are really fun and you get lots of info.
Best of Luck to you and the groom to be.

What difference does a persons ethnicity matter here? You want a wedding planner that will work with you to help you acheive the goals you want for your wedding day. I know you're thinking you want a latina planner because she will be familiar with certain traditions that others will not, but that's just not true. A good wedding planner will be familiar with ALL wedding traditions, from Christian, to non-demoninational, to Jewish, to Indian, etc., etc., etc. If you have friends who have recently gotten married and used a planner, ask who they used, and how it went. If not, then I'd just start cold-calling planners. Many have listings in the yellow pages, and you can also ask at bridal salons for reccommendations. You'll get a good idea of what you're looking for as you interview different planners.
