Yes, Vatican supporters do not follow the teachings of Christ, which include not using the temple as a means to make money in the name of the Lord.
And to the best of my knowledge, the artists were paid for their work. They didn't do it for free and contribute it to the Vatican as thanks to God for their God-given talent.

Jesus lived a simple life and would find the Vatican an interesting museum but not where He would live. He would be grateful for all of the art work which was donated to the Vatican and for the generosity of the Vatican for all of the art work that has been given to help the poor. He would be pleased to visit the simple rooms where the Pope lives and feel sorry that in today's society, a man like the Pope would need protection from people who want him hurt or dead.

I agree it would feed a lot of hungry people, and that is a VERY noble thing.
And yet that has to be balanced by the realization that those walls, buildings, sculptures, paintings, etc, are an expression of the creativity, value and gifts bestowed upon the artists by their Creator.
I think Jesus's reaction would be much more subtle and complex than a straight condemnation or affirmation.

Wow, that’s a new one. You sound just like those who complained that the ointment wasn’t sold and the money given to the poor. Jesus told them that the woman who 'wasted' such a fine thing on GOD had actually "done a beautiful thing". (Matthew 26:10)

Well I think the scene might be familiar to the one in the temple courts. Jesus turning over tables and using a whip to drive people out.
