My brother is a Hebrew linquist in the Airforce and has been in and out of Iraq more then once since this war has started. He does not agree with the war and believes that Bush is doing more harm then good. I have to agree with my brother.

If we REALLY want to support our troops we need to bring them home.

My husband is in the army and of course, has done some time in Iraq (combat... not a REMF).

My time to question the war was BEFORE it started. As soon as it began, it was time to put my personal beliefs aside and do MY duty as a spouse... that is, doing whatever I could to keep his mind on his mission.

I married a SOLDIER... that means not being able to pick and choose what orders he's going to follow.

Now that the war has started, it's time to see it through until mission complete. I absolutely do not see any other option at this point unless we (The U.S.) want to have a HUGE target on our backs.

I, too, am extremely grateful that he's made it home alive. ... More than words can say. He doesn't want to leave our son or me again, but he is ready to go back. He feels it's "his turn". That's how most soldiers feel.

I can't remember who originally said it, but even at the beginning, Iraq and the War on Terrorism was termed, "The Long War". That's exactly what it's going to be. As for our family... we're prepared for that and we have more at stake than many people who frequent the military board.

I don't mean to make light of your story or any other story about the soldiers, but if the soldiers didn't want to be there, then most of them wouldn't be. War never looks good when you're in one. To be honest, I really don't know how necessary this war is anymore now that we have pretty much lost what we hoped to gain- peace in Iraq and a break in middle eastern terror. In the mean time, only time will tell whether or not it is the right way to protect our freedoms and liberties in America. I think that the soldiers should be honored by America for fighting, they are laying their life on the line for us to have life and freedom over here, so if nothing else good comes from this war, we at least have a will to fight for our freedom, and that is commendable.

I have served in Iraq and my son is going to be heading over there.

We are the only hope for a better future for 23 million Iraqi people.

And right now we have a choice: Do we support the elected government that the vast majority of the Iraqi people want - or do we leave and the the Iraqi people be ruled by the terrorists with the most guns?

my son in law is in Iraq...this is his second tour in less than three years. he has a few problems coming to the surface that have to be dealt with and I am sure when he gets home there will be more. These soldiers believe in what they are doing and support their mission. We on the other hand have to be here at home waiting for there return and with the return comes helping them deal with life after the fact. God help us all get thru this and get these soldiers healthy and keep the families together.

This is a tough question to answer, because I don't think we're fighting the same war now as we were four years ago. I don't believe we really had justification for throwing saddam out. But now that he's gone, we're dealing with terrorists. Right or wrong, it would be a terrible idea to let them think that they have won. I worry every day about my husband's safety, and hear horror stories about people he knows who have died. But if we leave before the Iraqi military is ready to take over, it could make things worse in the long run. In my opinion, we need to stop throwing more troops in every time there's a problem, and change our tactics. We need to come up with a definite plan along with the iraqis, and make it clear to them that we will only stay and help them for a certain amount of time. We have lost enough people in a war that can never really be won. The best we can do is to contain it, and their government needs an incentive to get their sh-- together and get ready so we can get our own people out of there.

I am a wife of a Marine and have been for 15 years. My husband has been to Iraq several times. I fully support what is going on in Iraq as does my husband. Unless you've been over there you will have no idea what "that's like".

Yes, it sucks over there, bad things are happening and good men are getting hurt. Be thankfull they at least came home, many have family that did not. Keep in mind that they are accomplishing a greater good by doing this, my brother has been there since the beginning and I worry but not much because he is trained and I believe in fate. I just enlisted and I want to be on the first airbus over there, I may get killed I may get PTSD (its post traumatic STRESS syndrome not war syndrome) but its a small price to pay for my family to not have to fight them here at home in another 10 years or less.

To those brave troops and their families who post here, I thank you for protecting our great country.

I served in the Army 26 years ago fighting Communism even though I never been to a real battle field but I still followed order and that is what a soldier does.

The war is a joke, it only profits the politicians whom have oil interests. I believe our government views the men and women as nameless and faceless individuals. Just look at this years 3% raise, 4% tax increase as well as the increased deductibles of our retired service members! (My husband is in Iraq)
