How about in Islam?
"Allah shall make the Muslim rule over the Jew, we will blow them up in Hadera, we will blow them up in Tel-Aviv and in Netanya in the righteousness of Allah against this riff-raff, we will fight against them and rule over them until the Jew will hide behind the trees and stones and the tree and stone will say: 'Muslim ! Servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, kill him!'
"From the moment the first drop of his blood is spilled, he (the suicide bomber) does not feel the pain of his wounds and he is forgiven for all his sins; he sees his seat in Paradise; he is saved from the torment of the grave; he is saved from the great horror of Judgment Day; he marries 'the black-eyed'; he vouches for 70 of his family members; he gains the crown of honor, the precious stone of which is better than this entire world and everything in it."
- Sheikh Abd Al-Salam Abu Shukheydem, Chief Mufti of the Palestinian Authority police force.

They had to be without blemish, the best they had. At this time it served 2 purposes. The first purpose was that animals of this nature were expensive and hard to raise, it made you want to sin less because of what you personally would have to give up.
The second purpose was to show that only a perfect offering would make the Lord happy, thus it alludes to Jesus. He was the only man who lived and died without sin, he had no defect and thus was the ONLY sacrifice suitable. He knew this and told us that He came willingly to take His place. He is the only acceptable sacrifice God would of taken, thus it makes Jesus the only way to God. If you do not accept it, you are not forgiven, if you are not forgiven you still have sin in you, if sin is in you, you will be destroyed in the end. It's really not that difficult.

According to the Mosaic law, a castrated animal was unfit for sacrifice.
*** it-2 p. 190 Lame, Lameness ***
Sacrifices. It was also forbidden, under the Law, to offer as a sacrifice any animal with a defect of lameness, because these foreshadowed the perfect sacrifice of Christ. (De 15:21; Le 22:19, 20) This law was violated by the apostate Israelites, for which God reproved them, saying: “When you present a lame animal [for sacrificing, you say]: ‘It is nothing bad.’ Bring it near, please, to your governor. Will he find pleasure in you, or will he receive you kindly? . . . Can I take pleasure in it at your hand?” (Mal 1:8, 13) The apostle evidently applies this requirement in a spiritual way to Christians, entreating them: “Present your bodies a sacrifice living, holy, acceptable to God, a sacred service with your power of reason.”—Ro 12:1.

When making an offering to God, it must be the best you have to give. If you only give the leftovers after you have used the best parts for your own gratification or profit, it is unacceptable. Any sacrifice made to cover sins had to be perfect, just as Christ was perfect and without sin to cover the sins of all mankind.God demands the best of us, not the leftovers.

The old sacrificial system was a showdow of things to come. It was what we had to do before Jesus, to show the ugliness of sin. Only a perfect animal was sacrificed that would later represent the perfect Jesus Christ.
You talk of the ugliness of this and that we shouldnt even let our children read it. Think on this one.
Only those sinning had to do this. If we didnt sin, we didnt have to do this. But, as ugly and awful as it was, ppl still sinnined and took the lives of innocent little animals.
God knows the power of sin and wanted to show us the ugliness of sin, that ppl will do anything to do as they please. Now, we dont do sacricies anymore. Jesus died for our sins, price has been paid. But, there is a price, that is death and hell, and often horrid things brought to other innocent ppl because of their sin. DO they stop it ? NO.
Example.. a man cheats on his wive and leaves her for someone else. Family is destroyed. horrible things happen. Yet, that man still did it and was glad to do it, even usually feeling justified. Sin is awful and God wanted to show us just how awful. So if you are worried about kids seeing this , I have a question.
What am I to do as a Christian, as my children and grandchildren, besides myself, must grow up in a world with every perversion known possible shoved at us daily, in schools, movies, tv, all of it? Cant hear the news without having the kids leave the room, so they dont hear all the sick depravity. So rather than worrying abut how ugly sacrifices is, worry about the ugliness of sin and how the rest of us in this world dont want to see and hear it constantly.
God asked things like this of His ppl , wanting to try and stop us from sinning, so the world wouldnt be as ugly as it is right now. ANd you want to talk UGLY. Wait till those ppl are on the way to hell, screaming, burning, and no end in sight. UGLY?? oh yes, BUt God keeps trying to warn everyone. But , few will hear it. That kind of ugy is forever. and God wants us to know it. Many will go to hell, but thats not what GOd wants for them. He loves us all and is so eager to forgive. Heaven awaits those who will love Him enough to follow Him and obey. Hell awaits those who wont. There is nothing on this earth giving up salvation for. NOTHING. None will be in Heaven saying OOOH IT WAS ALL WORTH IT. All must choose Jesus before they die or He returns, cause after that its too late If you really hate vile and ugly, turn to God today. Jesus is coming soon.

all sacrifices are to be perfect in all ways because if it were not perfect then whats the point of christ being perfect...it was to show no blemish because that represented sin..and the testees couldnt be deformed or crushed either otherwise it isnt perfection....as God is Perfection

He was asking for the very best they had to give. Anything less than the best was unacceptable. The sacrifice was representative of the death of Christ. Therefore it could have no blemish (ie. sin)

God's ways are, often, inscrutable to our puny human minds...i.e., when the comparison is MADE with God ! Just comparing our minds to God and His ways, is, according to, MY OWN SMALL understanding, RATHER ABSURD AND IMPOSSIBLE.

All I know that castrated animals were not acceptable for sacrifice/offerings.
Maybe this was also to prevent animal cruelty.
