The detective may want to ask that person some questions about a case he's working on. Even if the person doesn't live with his brother, the detective knows where to find people, going by tips he's received.

That should be obvious. They would look for someone at home because they live there. It would make sense that a person would be at home. Criminals aren't the brightest people in the world.
They would look for you at your brothers house, because if you weren't at your house, then a family member is the next best bet. DUH!!!!!!!!! What did you do that your so afraid of being caught?

Perhaps someone told the detective where a person could be living/hiding........................................
Besides, is it logical to think a person will be out side 24-hrs. a day or will he/her need to seek shelter during certain times of the day..........................

were at....Criminals are not always very bright..
If they were, cops would have a lot more trouble
finding them because cops are not usually very
bright either...
