Avoid dairy foods - milk, yogurt, cheeses, things like that. I think that you'll find that those types of foods will cause excess phlegm. Ick.

If you like hot tea, you could try drinking some hot tea with lemon before singing. The heat can help your vocal cords warm up and the lemon helps clear your throat.

Too general of a question.
Just like everyone is different. What people like or dislike before doing a gig is up to the individual.
I have one friend that cannot eat for at least 4 hours before he performs.
I have another friend that likes to eat a big heavy meal before he performs.
Some like to snack on foods. Whatever they provide before gig.
We all need water though lots of water.
I personally prefer a couple of drinks of the hard stuff before I go on. But I also try not to eat anything heavy.

avoid spicy and sweet foods because they irritate your throat..
you can drink tea..ginger tea(salabat) because it is soothing to the throat..don't over use use voice..relax and dont shout or talk too much..drinking warm water may also help
most of all: have enough sleep and avoid stress
