Hitting a plateau is usually caused by one of two things:
(1) Through dieting you've reduced your lean body mass (i.e. lost muscle) to the point to where your reduced calorie intake on your diet is equal to what your body burns; or
(2) You're caloric deficit is so large that your body has entered starvation mode and your body is preventing any fat loss from occurring.
Assuming you are taking in a decent amount of calories that is normally associated with a weight loss program, the first option is most likely what happened (especially when considering you've had a healthy time table for your weight loss). Basically, you need to start doing some strength training to try and build back up your muscle to get your body back to where it used to be. This will increase your metabolism and get your weight loss goals back on track.
NOTE: this problem is very common in weight loss diets. Don't let this minor setback toss you off your diet plan because you will gain weight back very easily because your metabolism is lower now than when you started. Start lifting weights as soon as possible. Good luck.

Do not be discouraged! You are doing great.
Plateau's happen normally. What is a major cause of it is muscle memory.
When you eat at the same time or eat the same things. When you exercise the same time or same routine.
Your body will become efficient in processing the food and dealing with the caloric burn off.
How fast you get off of a plateau will depend on how you adjust to it.
By changing your exercise routines, workout times and your diet, you will be able to keep burning off more calories because your body will have to work harder to adjust to new situations.
Good luck.

Your doing fine! Plateau's happen. even weight lifting.. I hit them. Try a little more cardio... I'm not a big fan of treadmills.. I will do 8 miles on a recumbent bike and on a higher level.. I burn a lot of calories that way. My diet is chicken, fish and some beans/lentils. Never eat after 6pm.. and If you eat junk, do it only one day a week and still limit what you do eat.

When you initially start to lose weight alot of it is water weight hence the reason you see significant weight loss when you now start, just keep at it you will continue to lose. What you need to do now is step up your workouts, more cardio, more wight training, more days per week if you can get them in. Try different routines, your body gets used to the same routine over and over and eventually you will get discouraged. Go online or buy magazines like shape, Muscle and Fitness, etc they have many routines to keep you motivated.
