Both of these injections are usually not painful...It may hurt a little from the needle but otherwise no....About 4 hours after a tetanus shot you arm may be a little sore and feel warm...this is normal...Don't be afraid and good luck...

I just had both done this afternoon. The tetanus didn't hurt going on but it's hurting now(four hours later), and the Hep. A hurt going in but now it's fine.

But it could just be me, I don't do well with needles at all. Good luck!

Hey Tetanus is a intra muscular injection and its a toxoid.
A toxoid is a harmless substance made from the tetanus toxin, and since its in the muscle it will cause pain but will disappear in 2 days

Hep A is a live attenuated virus, which cannot infect you and its given intra dermal so it doesn't hurt at all.

I give these shots all the time. The shots themselves don't hurt, just prick of needle. Tetanus shot will make arm sore/stiff after about 2 days. HepA, minor discomfort. I give the tetanus in the dominant arm, encourages pt to keep arm moving. Take ibuprofen or tylenol for next few days for pain/swelling.

I just had mine last week and was really scared! Make sure that the doctor pinches a bit of skin and injects there - it doesn't hurt at all!
And I am a TOTAL wimp!

any injection will hurt if you don't relax. If you get a shot in the arm, imagine your arm as a noodle just hanging off your shoulder, relax it as much as possible, it will lessen the discomfort considerably.
