Just because the Jesus of Mormonism has the same name as the Christian Jesus doesn't make them the same Person. One is the Only Begotten Son of God. The other is the older brother of Satan. HUGE difference.
Huge.

Why do the "regular" Christians think they have the right answer over just Mormon Christians?

It's not so much that we answer over them, as we answer what we believe.
Now, there is the fact that a large majority of Mormons are very well versed in our doctrine, so they can use scriptures to back up their arguements. But this is not because we think we are better suited to answer. Most mormons attend religion classes in high school and college. Worthy young men serve two years as missionaries, and many young women serve 18 month missions.
With all of this education and practice using our scriptures, we are in a position to use our scriptures and reference them in religious discussions. So often, we seem to be lording it over others, when we are simply using the tools we have been given.
It could also be, as an athiest once told me, "Mormons are the only religion I have ever met that could logically explain why they believe what they believe."

We don't have the right answers OVER other Christians, except when they lie about what we do and do not believe. Then, I believe we have the right to correct them. For instance, we ARE CHristians, as we believe Jesus of Nazareth to be the Christ, the Messiah, our Lord and Saviour. We must accept Him as such, and repent of our sins, in order to gain eternal life with Heavenly Father.
Anyone who believes crazy lies about the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, and other things, just ask yourself;
Would a sane, intelligent person actually believe this?
If your answer is "No Way!" then perhaps it's a lie that we actually believe it. Instead of thinking we are too weird, why not find out if it IS right or not?
For instance, when someone says "Mormons believe that Jesus and Satan are brothers". What is that all about?
Why not find out?

Heck, all sects and religions of any sort believe they're right. Why the hell else would anyone join them otherwise? Nobody's gonna join a religion they don't believe in.
You can just as easily transpose your question: Why do Christians think they have the right answer over Mormons?
You can look up the beliefs, debate them, study them scientifically, but in the end, it's whatever rocks your boat.
That doesn't mean I believe they're all equally right, but you may be touched by something in one over all the others.

Ah! Such a tempting question to answer!
That may allude to the fact that Mormons not only study and read the Holy Bible, but also three additional scriptures that were brought forth: the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, and the Doctrine and Covenants.
The Bible has truths throughout its books, but so do the other scriptures Mormons follow. These other scriptures mentioned are easy to read and comprehend, thus different interpretations are scarce. All four scriptures provide stronger answers to man's questions about the eternities and God Himself.

DR: In Australia many of the established Churches are losing members, you’re gaining members.
Gordon B. Hinckley: I hope so.
DR: Why do you think that is?
Gordon B. Hinckley: Well we have that programme to offer. Our ministry’s unique. We make heavy demands on people. The interesting thing is that a Church that demands great things from it’s people, attracts people.
Gordon B. Hinckley: I think there are many good people everywhere. And our appeal is to those people. We don’t down grade any Church. We don’t speak disparagingly of any Church. We simply say to people of other Churches, bring all the good that you have and come and let us see if they if we can add to it. Now that’s all there is to it.

For the same reasons that the baptists, Methodists, catholics, Episcopals and every other denomination thinks they are correct.
It is because sibling rivalry as in "God loves us best" Why do siblings tease and try to one-up each other and vie for the parents favor? Because deep down they really don't know if they are the favorites and they have to keep trying to "prove" it.

Do not all Churches believe they have the truth and that you should adhere to the precepts they teach? They would not be an organized religion if they did not.
