I just want to kinda open up this topic because as a Muslim in middle school, I know how it feels to have so many false stereotypes against my faith. But I've always wanted to know how other people feel about things from a different view. So what aspect of your belief do you think is the least understood and why? It doesn't have to be your own faith, but please don't insult others' beliefs. I also want to make more understanding and less hatred(it's impossible to deny) because of that misunderstanding, so go ahead and clear up the misconceptions in your answer. I know this isn't going to make a huge change in society, but even if it can change the mindset of one person from hate to understanding, that really does make an impact. I'll be giving all these answers a good rating regardless of the content, so I just wanted to clear that up. Thanks in advance for the information, and please don't attack other's beliefs.

Based on many of the answers for questions here about Judaism, and I mean the ones that are serious, not the obviously stupid answers, I would have to say that most people have little or no understanding of Judaism, mainly because they go to Christian or Muslim religious leaders to ask questions, or Jews who have little or no knowledge of their own religion.

Atheism. Why? Because without some sort of deity, or supernatural entity there to judge us, surely we must be the most immoral people on the planet. At least, that is the sentiment that comes across. I do not know how many times people have told me "but you're such a good person?" when they learned of me being an atheist.

It is known fact that people of religion will place more trust in someone of a differeing religion over an atheist. Why, I do not know. But, that is the way it is.

Technically, I don't know if really answered your question since you asked about "faith systems". But, I took the question as "belief systems" instead.

everyones feelings come from some sort of trueth.weather it b all catholic preist r child molesters or muslims r killers and jahovah witnesses do nothing but nock on doors.people come up with this stuff no out of the blue but from some sort of life expereince. the same way the word gay was changed and ******.they did not mean what they mean today.the only way to reverse these things is to change the way the world sees them.to do that the group or nation would have to show no tolerance for any of the actions taken by any one person in that group or nation.in a sense u have 2 take away the right to free speach.go back to the old days where children respected their elders and swearing and sexual conduct was not aloud on tv and radio.

Amazingly, I would have to say "Christian", because the word has been used to the point of abuse for so many diametrically opposed views. Most people just lump all church-going theists under that one word. That's one reason there are always extremist groups breaking off from organized churches. They merely want their beliefs to stand out, instead of getting lost in the melting pot.
I still haven't decided whether I want to be identified as Christian or not. Its the easiest way to define what I believe in a nutshell for strangers, but my previous Protestant churches pretty much kicked me out for things in my life they condemn.

Although I don't know, it would seem that every major and most minor religions have been stereotyped to the point of unrecognizeability at one time. It is natural, apparently, in humans, to stereotype everything.

Hi,
I'm impressed with your writing abilities at the Jr. High level. I don't think you're alone. I belong to the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (often nicknamed Mormon or LDS) - Our religions have something in common in that we both believe that prophets existed after the time of Jesus, I think that's a big one that people don't really understand in regards to both our faiths.

Anyway, if you hang around this board long enough, you'll see all sorts of misconceptions floating around about so many different beliefs. I just make it a point to pay more attention to what the actual members or followers have to say about them because I think it's safe to assume they know their beliefs best.

Thanks

witchcraft is widely misunderstood.
most people think we're satanists! we don't even believe in satan, he is a christian belief!
they tell us we're evil and going to hell, even though our followers are normally much more peaceful and respectful then most other religions. we are a nature based faith. our spells are very much like your prayers, they are well wishes with a kick!
my son is in grade 9, my girls in grade 6 and 3. my son keeps to himself about his beliefs (wiccan/witchcraft). my older daughter just tells her closest friends, and the little educates her teachers and classmates usually just around the sabbats.
it would be GREAT if we could all understand each other's beliefs a little better, but unfortunately there are extremists in most groups which make the rest of the group look bad.
blessed be : )

Anyone different from your religion is going to be least understood....not just one...all that are different.
Most people do not want to accept others belief systems because they feel they are being untrue to their own.
I'm with you kid...why can't we all just get along....without pushing our beliefs on everyone else and just accepting people for who they are.

Wicca, actually. Its a brand new religion and most people don't have a clue about it except that they think we're all goths that think the magic they saw in the tv Charmed exists.

Paganism is the least understood as of today, because it is a minority which has the major religions tabooing it.
