I read some articles about J.K Rowling. Apparently she was living off the government because her husband left her and her daughter out on the street. So she wrote harry potter to basically feed her daughter. She never expected it to be so famous. Why is it considered the work of the devil?

It's considered "the work of the devil" by some Christians who see the word "magic" or "witchcraft" and freak out, not realizing that what happens in the Harry Potter books has about as much of a relationship to REAL witchcraft as the Tooth Fairy has to the practice of dentistry.

All the Harry Potter books could teach anyone seeking to learn magic is how to speak in fractured Latin -- not good training in the least.

In the books, the character Hermione Granger is described as a witch. So are a few of the other female characters.

The Bible has warnings against witches.

Fortunately, only crazed extremist fundies are considering the Harry Potter books to be anything other than entertainment. I can't wait to read the next in the series myself.

Because its about magic and Christianity is against witches, remember.

Its idiotic. The Harry Potter books are some of the best childrens books (and heck, even some of the best adult books. The books are fantastic) that have been released in 20 years. Magic, and myth, great friendship, and the strength of good over evil accompanied by excellent and inventive characters. Great entertainment.

Probably some Christians think that if you enjoy it its work of the devil. Did you know that Christians use a lot of heathen rituals, like the Christmas three, Eastern eggs.

It's hillarious on Jesus camp when the kids say that they think the one kid looks like Harry Potter (which he does) right after they talk about how evil Harry Potter is. The look on the parent's face is priceless.
