edmunds.com has a good section I have been driving one since 1994
they are bullet proof as long as you keep the regular maintenence up they are as good as gold

The Explorer is not a good choice if you want fuel efficiency or high resale value though. If you need a fairly large SUV, check out the Honda Pilot (faster, better mileage, much better resale value, more reliable, and handles better). If you don;t need something that large, try Toyota RAV4 or Honda CRV.
