Ok, someone told me to put ten eggs under her. I've went and done that and now I'm wondering if I will have to keep her and her chicks seperated from the other hens and rooster?
I don't want them to hurt the baby chicks. Guess you can tell this is my first time ;(. I did try putting a new chicken in with the old and they tried to kill her. I don't want the same thing happening with the babies.

yes you should because when I got more chicks I tried putting them in with the other chickens and they kept chasing and pecking at them, so my dad separated the chicken coop with chicken wire and wood, and I put them in there and everything was just fine, but I have tried putting them back in with the other chickens because they are older now but they still chase and peck at them, the hen too, so they have to be separated from the other chickens permanently, and we made another door for the chicks and hens to go outside, and we let them out at separate times of the day, because if we let them out together the same thing would happen.

When I've raised chickens in the past, I usually kept the hen and her chicks in separate housing for the night. Otherwise, they ran free during the day and none of the other chickens bothered them. However, if you keep you chickens in a penned area, and don't allow them to run free on your property, then I would suggest keeping the hen and her chicks separate from the others. Once the chicks are old enough to be away from their mother, then it should be fine to reintroduce them all to the rest of the flock.

I always keep my little ones and their mum in a covered enclosure until they are big enough to not be an easy tasty treat for a feral cat or a peregrine falcon. The other big birds can also be a threat to the little chicks. My motto is better safe than sorry!

save the poultry and her chicks cut loose the others as they tend to %. and may want to finally end up killing the chicks. i do not enable mine blend with the older birds until eventually they're about 15 weeks old and then they can fend for them selves.
