I suppose it depends on your weight and fitness level at the momment. I would say that 6 months is enough time too for the average person. If you eat healthy and exersize regularly including cardiovascular (running/cycling etc) along with toning exersizes you should be well on your way! You will be suprised at how quickly you will see your body change and how your fitness level improves once you start eating healthy and doing regular exersize! sure....do cardio and/or aerobics 5-6 days a week for 45-60 minutes. Cut down on your calorie intake. Stop drinking calories as much as possible. Drink plenty of water everyday. You will see fast results.
