I recently painted my bedroom a warm tan color. My base board are white, my curtains are white, and all of my bedding is white. My bedroom furniture is a deep chocolate brown and I have some rot iron peices in the room. I love these colors, but did I go about this the right way? Is it alright to use this color on my walls and such a large amount of white in other places, if so, should I throw in an accent color to give the room more of a punch? Any suggestions?

Your bedroom already has 'punch' but what you 'need' is something to 'tie the colors together' ... if you can find a 'commercial' area rug or even better, a piece of 'wall art' that could use the 'four colors (rot iron is sort of red/black, right?)' and give your room a 'focal point' for the 'punch' you want your 'color scheme' to have. Look for a 'good abstract' first, but if you can't find it, maybe you can 'hook' or 'punch' your own rug, or 'paint' your own 'wall art' ...

I would add some red flowers, pillows, and maybe find some red ribbon to sew onto the curtains as an accent. Something gold would look good too.

Ultimately it's your room, but if you think it needs more punch, add some. Pier 1 Imports has some great accent pillows, etc. Just take a paint sample with you so that you can match it.

Absolutely add color, you color choices are great but if you want to add color to the room, you can start by adding some pictures with say a black frame to tie in the rod iron. you can pick up cheap picture frames anywhere and if not black spray them black with some cheap spray paint as well you can get cheap pictures from the dollar store, to put in the frames. as for the curtains you can always add a valance or decorative rod iron curtain road with say a tan or black sheer swagged over it to bring some color to the windows area. if you dear to be real wild, paint a accent color on one of the walls say dark chocolate. you are only limited by your own creativity. you also can add some class to the room by changing out the plugs and switches with the deco style ones.
The colors you have chosen are earth tones, and all believe it or not have black in them. so anything with black tones will go good... reds, blacks, browns, purple, green, gold etc. stay away from yellows, blues, and orange.

What you've done sounds lovely. For a finishing touch, perhaps a few chocolate coloured cushions on the bed to break up the white? Choose a different textured fabric for each cushion to give it depth and substance.

I think it sounds beautiful but throwing in a little color might be nice. What about sage green or a light grayish blue? You don't want your bedroom to look too white and sterile.

Depending on your taste, a few red or orange throw pillows or items in bright prints would tie the whole room together.
