If you're looking for background music for a business, both XM radio and Sirius radio have a 'for business' plan that would serve what you need. Or you could look up Muzak, which is what is commonly called elevator music. It comes from a real company, Muzak Holdings LLC that used to have almost a monopoly on elevator music.

Whatever music source you use, if you are going to play it in public you need to sure that you pay the royalties on it. The RIAA (Recording Industry Association America) is hot on the trail of anyone they can sue, including deaf people, invalids, little old grandmothers and even the deceased. Best you locate a music service like Muzak that takes care of the royalties for you.

If it's in New York City it's most likely:

bossanova ( Astrud Gilberto, Babel Gilberto, )
loungecore ( theivery corporation, jazzanova, head candy..)
jazz ( like shirly bassey ) ( Stan Getz )

stuff like these.

It wouldn't be your typical bland elevator music or muzak
New York is a little more progressive than that....

..most don't play radio stations...they have CD compilations.

If you are in New York, go to Virgin (electronic section) or go to Other Music.
