Make sure mom breastfeeds. It helps baby grow healthier and smarter.

Talk to your baby a lot after it is born. Narate what you're doing when changing a diaper, etc. Sing to baby. Read to baby a lot and let him see you reading too.

Be an active and involved parent.

Learning can be part of every day fun. Count the stairs as you climb them. Talk about colors and shapes while you grocery shop. Play "I spy" in the store to find "the red circle" or "the blue box" etc.

There's no conclusive evidence that playing music to it before it's born will stimulate brain growth. The whole "Mozart Effect" has been pretty much proven to be false. I listen to music in the car all the time, even when I was pregnant.

The #1 most important thing is to read to your children. Let them see you reading. Let them know that you consider reading a worthwhile and fun activity. Most teachers will tell you that they can't tell which children were bf vs ff, which ones listened to Mozart, etc. But they can tell right off which ones were read to and which ones weren't.

This is for later on advice. Read read and read from an early age. Make sure that they can always voice their opinion yet do get told off if wrong. Also play interesting music to the kid and make sure that they are creative, so get them to colour things in and draw, play with lego bricks... .
