well car is the best way if you can manage it.
National express also do busses from birmingham to nottingham - although they do not run alot, i think its twice daily but you would have to check there site.
As fo the trains prob the slowest way to get to Nottingham, as has been said train to Leicester then on to Nottingham. Problem is there is a terrible timetable from birmingham airport - so good luck, but goto the nationalrail website and look on there.
Thats the major prob with birmingham airport. If you cant drive or know someone that can serve as a taxi - you find it very hard to get to and from.

The best way is to take the train from Birmingham International Airport. I believe you change at Leicester and from Leicester it takes approx 30-40min up to Nottingham. However, when you purchase your ticket ask the train station staff to see whats the best route to get there. In some cases, they can print you an iteniary for your journey. If you've got a car, then of course you can drive to Nottingham.

Quickest way would be by car...... up the M42 then M1 ....takes about 50 minutes to an hour depending on traffic( & depending on where in Nottingham you want to be of course) The actual flight time would be quicker but by the time you've waited for the plane & all the palavour at East Mids Airport driving would be quicker
