Your not curing a hangover. Your body has a reaction to the vast amount of alcohol consumed and craves more when you stop drinking. Thats why it's easy to drink vast amounts during an evening. During the night when you sleep and stop consuming alcohol, your body craves for more and goes into cold turkey, a lot like a drug addict going cold turkey.
Having a hair of the dog (anouther drink) basically fuels your body's desire for more alcohol and removes the craving for a short period. It's easier to recover from this during the day after anouther drink due to the activity your providing your body.

I'm not too sure but one of the best cures for a hangover is a Red Eye. A glass of beer with a small amount of tomatoe juice. Mixed together. As a bartender I have seen it work MANY times!

People used to believe that a dog bite could be cured by placing a few hairs from the tail of the dog that bit them on the wound.

It doesn't really cure a hangover. It just delays the inevitable for a short time. You can't stay drunk forever!

seems like a good idea at the time and sometimes it works lol. got to deal with a bigger hangover the next day though lol

People find that they crave more of whatever they are trying to recover from (mainly alcohol) This only has tempory effects though and wont help in the long run. Best stick to water!
