yes a cordless phone connected to the PSTN (public switched telephone network) or POTS (plain old telephone service) is a "land line"

if that same phone is connected to voip, then no it is not a land line, as the term "land line" is commonly used to refer phone service provided via the PSTN by way of the RBOC (reional bell operating company)

no, a cordless phone is not hardwired... there havent been any hardwired phones in many years... the last hard wired phone I saw was a wall phone from about 40 years ago.. and the thing still worked..

hard wired means that the phone wire (not line cord) is connected directly to the internal parts of the telephone. all phones sold today use modular plugs/jacks also refered to as rj-11 jacks.

not based on telephone but on connectivity thereof:

A landline or main line is a telephone line which travels through a solid medium, either metal wire or optical fibre. This is distinguished from a mobile cellular line, where the medium used is the airwaves. Landlines usually cost less than cellular lines and provide better voice quality, and are used when there is no need for mobility or where cellular service is unavailable. A land line is also used to increase the security of communications, as it cannot be intercepted by a receiver without physical access to the line. This does not, however, mean that a telephone company will not send the call over the air on some point in the journey.

In 2003, the CIA reported approximately 1263 million main telephone lines worldwide. China had more than any other country, at 350 million, and the United States was second with 268 million - this compared with 219.4 million cellular telephones, a number which is expected to exceed the main line number within a few years.

Yes a cordless phone is a land line phone as long as it is working off the line in your house. A wireless phone is considered a cell phone.

A cordless phone is a home phone (not cell) that has no cords attached to it, so you can move around the house and not be attached to the base of the phone. A Land line is a home phone that is not a cell phone.

Yup! Its base unit is connected to a landline only & from there to the specified range it works as a cordless phone!

It is. Cordless means cordless from the receiver to the phone.

No I've had phones die on me in call and just sitting around and not call 911. It would be areally bad feature to have because not everyone puts them back on the charger when they finish a call. However it is really easy for them to call 911. If it has coded dial or speed dial built in a lot of phone need you to only press one button like 8 or 9 and hold it down for a couple of seconds and they will call 911. It could have been by accident like a book falling on one or being stepped on, I had my cat make a call once by knocking the phone down it wasn't to 911 but another program in the speed dial.
