The will of God was that Jesus serve as sacrifice.judas always had a choice. he was not predestined.but he was tempted and gave in to that temptation.had he not fallen to that temptation there would have been another to do so .after all there was a price on Jesus,s head .let Judas tell you himself what he felt about what he did. mat.27:3-8 in verse 4 he says"I have sinned in that i have betrayed the innocent blood."
p.s. the gospel of judas is not considered as valid nor sound doctrine.as it was written 2nd -5th century after christ by a group of gnostics .to back up their beliefs. scholars and those who know the Bible say>
the gospel of Judas is contrary to the New Testament account. If it was Jesus’ plan for Judas to betray Him, why would Jesus call Judas the “one headed for destruction” in John 17:12? Jesus also stated that it would have been better if Judas had never been born: “For I, the Son of Man, must die, as the Scriptures declared long ago. But how terrible it will be for my betrayer. Far better for him if he had never been born!"
The Bible reports that Judas committed suicide when he saw that Jesus was condemned. Why would Judas do this if He was following Jesus’ instructions? Matthew 27:5 says, “Then Judas threw the money onto the floor of the Temple and went out and hanged himself.”

Yes, Jesus knew who his betrayer was. Remember when they were having the last supper, he told the disciples that one of them was the betrayer and they all began to ask themselves, "It is I Lord?" And he told Judas to 'go quickly" and do what you have to. Even when God puts a plan together - and this was part of the plan of salvation for which we believe, the parts that seem ugly and cruel had to be considered because this was the kind of world that man had made it. God didn't make the world and the people this way. When sin entered the world - it shifted the plan and God, who is ever in control-already had preparation for it to be shifted back. Do you think he wanted His Son Jesus to die? That is why we should be so ever grateful for the sacrifice he made. God even turned his back on the sin at it's climax in Jesus because he coulnd not look upon sin.

The gospel of Judas would seem to indicate that he knew what he needed to do and was bless for it. Interestingly, why was Judas needed at all, surely the priests could have sent soldiers that knew what Jesus looked like?

Judas was already untrustworthy, he would often steal from the money box (for the disciples.) That was of his own free will.
Jesus did know. Satan did enter Judas. Free will, I don't know. I do know it was all apart of Gods plan.
Peace be with you.

Yes, Jesus already knew, but it still had to be done to fulfill God's Will.

Read what the Bible says, please. "The son of man had to be betrayed but woe unto him who betrayed him, it would have been better if he had not been born at all."
