if he appears to not know what hes doing when it actually comes to sex then he probably is a virgin!

Physically, you can't tell. You and he may be discussing sex, and if you and he are honest with each other, and he feels comfortable with you, he may tell you the truth. If you and he are in bed together, you'll also be able to tell because he'll be nervous and won't be sure of what to do.
