I like this guy alot and although we've hung out quite a bit, email eachother sometimes and have kissed, he's getting quite distant. I see him about once a week and when he found out that I like him he told me there is 'obviously something between us'. He seems reluctant to show commitment. Should I ask him straight out how he feels, or should I ignore the situation or even forget it and move on?

Ask him to tell you honestly how he feels. If he feels the same way you do, there could be a possibility for a relationship. If you don't ask, you'll never know.

It's obvious that you need to have a talk with this person. If you feel you can't talk with him than what are you doing with him? You should feel comfortable to always talk with someone you either have a relationship with or are interested in.
If he's reluctant and/or getting distant...MOVE ON!

just continue to take things at the same pace, it's obviously working. the problem with most situations like these is that someone wants a committment too early on; nobody likes to go with the flow anymore. don't rush it or even push him to say that he's committed. it might just push him away.
