I was wondering if 1 in 8 people are released from prison after having been found innocent, what happens to them? Does the government step in to help them, pay their taxes perhaps for a few years? How hard is it for them to find a job or go to school or anything like that? Where could I find the information on this? Thanks

I'm sure the Innocence Project has a wealth of information. As for 1 in 8, that's pretty close. I do know that over 200 people on Death Row have been exonerated since the Project's inception, just over 10-15 years ago. Amazing!!!

Sadly these people are set free with only what they brought in and an apology from the prison. Thats it no compensation. Nothing. I'm sure you can find more info by searching the web or contacting someone in that field such as a lawyer or the prison director. Good luck. here is a site that you may be able to contact someone through email to get more info

It's more like 1 in 800. There aren't that many CONVICTED on death row that are found innocent.
