I have a friend with benefits but he is really respectful of me. I don't want him to treat me bad nor would I let him but based on a lot of my friends who have fwb's they are treated like crap. So it's kinda like I would never let it happen but I have reason to expect it. So I just wanted to know is he respectful because of me or is it because of him even though we are only fwb. I think a guy once said not all men are animals or testosterone driven, but I do tend to think that, and try to figure out what makes me not have the experiences my friends have even though I am not complaining.

I just wanted to add the becoming fwb was a mutual decision. So I don’t feel he can disrespect me by having sex with me if it’s something that I want to, and yes I do have a whole lot of respect for myself I am just not sure if I want to do the relationship thing right now but for the time being we all have needs.

Nothing wrong with a fwb - my guess is that he is respectful towards you because he's a nice guy and has respect for women in general - probably because he was raised right by his mother.

He's acting that way so you don't cut off the sex. If he respected you, he wouldn't be sleeping with you as simply a "benefit" of knowing you. If he respected you, he wouldn't be a fwb with you.
