Born and raised here, and never noticed an accent when I came back from somwhere else. People in Canada, say we have a strong accent from capon country. Do u think theres is accent in Chicago?

I've read somewhere that in the Chigago region a neuter "General American" is spoken, which should be perceived as accent-less

DEFINITELY. There's a nasal way you pronounce "a", and you almost pronounce "o" like a short a sound. For example chicagoans pronounce "mom" more like "ma'am" is pronounced in much of the rest of the US.
