so, um, allah hangs around schools to give students prizes?
Look, assume for a moment that other girls also prayed. Why did you gain his ear? Do you really assume that he would favor you over the others?

There wasn't one particular moment. I'm convinced that God (the Christian God) exists from my experience of life and the world, basically. It seems to me to be the most reasonable explanation of the way that the world is. There have been times when it's seemed like evidence that God exists - for example when people have changed after they've become Christians and stuff like that. I think the strongest examples were around the time my mum died - lots of things suggested that God was looking after my family and was in control of the situation. But these isolated instances are generally not strong enough evidence on their own of God - it's an accumulation of everything that keeps me convinced.

I do believe that if you're facing a serious problem and you pray to god for guidance, he will show you how to deal with it. I don't believe that if you pray for and "A" or for "1st place" god will give it to you out of thin air. God may have helped give you some extra strength and motivation but in the end it was your hard work that got you that prize.

The other contestants didn't pray, right? Or they prayed to the wrong God? Or God thought you were the most important.
Sad thing is: today another 30,000 children died of starvation and Aids on this planet, and you think that God would somehow bother with people praying to win prizes.
Good thing is: God doesn't exist. So you won all by yourself. You did it! All by yourself! Now isn't that awesome?!?

I'm not trying to be insulting at all but wish fulfillment is not proof of God even in many religions.

No, but I have been through moments that made me seriously consider homeschooling my boys so that they are able to write intelligibly.
