If "favorite" was the right term then that would be what was used. Chosen is used ("the chosen term" if you will) in terms of chosen for a task. God had a desire for mankind to follow his commandments and there was a person named Abraham who showed he cared for spreading God's will throughout the will and God decided that he will be the one to do it - hence chosen.
It should be noted that Jews don't push this idea of chosen beyond the responsibility - what it inherently means. Certain non-Jews like to make it into a big deal.

The Jews are God's chosen people, why you ask. Who knows why and what difference does it make unless you're anti-Semitic. God chose people to call His own for His own pleasure. He chose to make you who you are, is that a good or bad thing? God chose to make a boundary between the oceans and the earth. God chose to make the sun govern the day and the moon the night. God chose that a seed must die in the ground before it brings forth it's fruit. Who are you, the creation, telling the Creator how to create.
And no; the Jews are not mistaken, Jesus is a Jew. He lineage comes from David, King David.

God chose through the faith of Abraham to bless his generations. Because of Abrahams belief and obediense God blessed his offspring. When refering to God chosen it is talking about those who first allowed him to be thier God. Now we Gentiles are grafted in because we have the same faith as Abraham. Paul several times that God is no respecter of Persons. But the Bible does state that the dispensation of Gentiles will end and His Spirit will once again go back to the people who accepted him first namely the Jew.

Well, that WAS kind of the point.
That particular God was the God of a specific people, a tribal God.
Other people had and have other Gods (and Goddesses).
Exodus 20
1 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
OK, let's just look at that.
"which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage".
WHO is being spoken to? The Picts? The Egyptians? The Chi'in? The Sumerians? The Aztecs, Gauls, Akkadians, Phoenicians, Trojans, Indus, Nubians?
No. It's a very specific group of people, and it's THEIR specific God doing the speaking, the tribal God of THOSE people, not of all people..

God says that He has no respect of person. Or shall I say no favoritism. The Jews were God's chosen people because that is the lineage that Jesus came out of. They were in slavery many of times for their disobedience so you can't say they haven't had their share of pain. God just always kept a remnant to keep His commandments and lineage going for the One and Only Jesus.

No. The Jews are the chosen but others have been brought in to the fold.
This is why.

Are you a good person? What a question, most of us believe that we are good people because we can look around and find someone that is far worse than we are. We can always point to the things that we think make us a good person.
But how good are we really? Dare we take this test and look at ourselves and see if we really are good? Hmmm.
If you are willing try this and see just how good a person you are.
The Good Person Test.
How will you do? Pass or fail?
Have you ever told a lie?
Doesn't matter how big or small, just a lie.
What does that make you? Before answering think about this, if I told you a lie what would you call me? A liar?
Have you ever stolen anything? Cost doesn't matter, a piece of gum, failed to give back an ink pen that you borrowed, anything.
What does that make you?
Jesus said, "You know the saying of old, you shall not commit adultery but I say that if look at someone to lust after them you have committed adultery in your heart.
Have you ever lusted?
Jesus said that hate is equal to murder.
Have you ever hated anyone?
See one day we all are going to stand before a Holy God on Judgment Day and he is going to judge us based on His Holy Law, the Ten Commandments. These are just 4 of them and how did you do? Guilty? I have broken all of these and more, what about you? How well will you do on Judgment Day?
If we break just one point of God's Law we are guilty of breaking all the law and Gods Wrath abides upon us all. Based on God's Law we are all guilty and all are deserving of punishment. But there is an out for us.
Jesus paid the price for each one of us, took on himself God's Wrath so we wouldn't have to face it on our own. Jesus was beaten, battered, bleed and died so we wouldn't have to face God's Wrath. He rose again so that we would life in his presence. Our crimes, His payment.
The real question is where will you stand on Judgment Day. Pay yourself or have it paid for you. Think about it.

Most gods have cultures they work with. Where the Abrahamicisits who came after the Jews and most Jews got it wrong was in confusing their tribal god with a monotheistic god.
